About
I grew up in a remote village in Bangladesh, where reaching the district town meant a three-and-a-half-hour walk, or two and a half by boat in the monsoon. I’ve lived in Germany since, and I’m now based in Düren, Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Two things have stayed constant since then: technical precision and writing. I work as a Technischer Zeichner in industrial and building automation, and I write under the pen name Prithu Sanyal — poems and essays in Bengali, German and English, on memory, migration, freedom of expression and human rights.
Alongside both, I chair the Dachverband Migrantenselbstorganisationen Düren, the umbrella body connecting migrant self-organisations across the city.
